Top Ranked Dog Number 9

9) Beagle

Breed Nature and Personality)
Beagles are intelligent, affectionate, inquisitive, sociable and playful. They are perfect family pets because of their size, groom ability, and gentle nature with children. Beagles are full of energy, and will thrive with an active family, preferably with a large yard or local park where they can run around and explore. Beagles are not an ideal dog for people living in small spaces with little time. They need to be exercised regularly.

Known Health Problems)
Overall Beagles are generally a healthy breed, but you need to be aware of some inherent problems. The most common problems with beagles although rare until older age are epilepsy,  allergies, cherry eyes, hypothyroidism, hip dysplasia and back problems.  You can expect a healthy Beagle to live between 13-15 years.

Conclusion)
Overall Beagles are great family dogs. They do require plenty of exercise or they can become bored and destructive. Generally having good health should keep your vet bills down. Not recommend for workaholics who have little time to dedicate to their pooch.
